Norman Kihara, an EACC official who has been a subject of ridicule on social media after Governor Sonko accused him of tickling his manhood on Friday. The 47 year old has come out to rubbish claims that he praised the Governor for possessing a big penis.
“This is absurd. I was only doing my work and my hand found itself at an unfamiliar place after the Governor resisted the arrest. What he claims I said was big is just a joke. Am the one who accidentally touched his penis and I can confirm it is not big as it is being circulated to the members of the public” an angry Kihara shouted.
“The Governor’s claims are frivolous aimed at tarnishing the name of EACC” he added.
Mr Sonko is accused of irregularly awarding tenders to his close aides, forging documents and misappropriating county funds. The Nairobi county governor had earlier sought court orders to stop the investigations but the case was dismissed.
Ordering his arrest, director of public prosecutions Noordin Haji said he had enough evidence to prosecute Mr Sonko, and other officials, for money laundering and unlawful acquisition of public property.
Corruption is seen as a huge problem in Kenya, which President Uhuru Kenyatta has pledged to tackle. Despite dozens of arrests, his anti-corruption drive has not yet
led to any high-profile convictions. In July, former Finance Minister Henry Rotich was arrested on corruption allegations, which he denied. Mr Sonko was elected Nairobi county governor in 2017, standing for Mr Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
