The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has ordered the arrest of Senator Yussuf Haji for allegedly grabbing an 84-acre piece of land in Mombasa.
Mr. Haji also cited Moses Kirwa, Douglas Musoti, and Mohammed Salman among others in relation to the Mombasa land scandal.
“Due to public outcry, I have directed the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) effect the arrest and immediate arraignment before court of the accused persons named…” Mr. Haji briefed reporters.
The DPP said the decision to charge the four is based on the evidence available to his office.
Pressure has been mounting on Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to probe his father over the land grabbing allegations.
Squatters in Mombasa’s Majaoni settlement Scheme accused senator Haji of allegedly grabbing their 84-acre piece of land.
The squatters allege that senator Haji grabbed the land when he served as Coast Provincial Commissioner (PC) in the 1990s.
