Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has denied reports indicating that it summoned Genge artist Kennedy Ombima, alias King Kaka.

Taking to its social media account to dismiss the reports, the DCI termed the information being circulated through social media as false.

“We wish to condemn strongly false information being peddled through social media to the effect that one Kennedy Ombima @RabbitTheKing has been summoned. Nobody from @DCI_Kenya has summoned him.

“Anybody wishing for publicity should be warned to desist from using the @DCI_Kenya as a platform in seeking media attention,” tweeted the DCI.

The comment by the DCI has been welcomed by a section of social media users including Statehouse Digital Secretary Dennis Itumbi.

“Very well, @DCI_Kenya, let Civil matters remain person to person. No need to criminalize Civil matters! Asante for withdrawing the summons, if they were there. Salute! Let the musicians sing,” tweeted Itumbi.

The developments come hours after the rapper tweeted that he had been summoned by the DCI detectives over his song dubbed “Wajinga Nyinyi.”

In the piece of art, King Kaka slammed a section of elected leaders for failing to deliver on their mandate and also taking part in massive corruption that has bedevilled the country.

The song attracted a massive following from a section of Kenyans with the majority of them endorsing the piece for calling a spade a spade.

However, a section of leaders has expressed their outright reservation over the piece of art with Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who was mentioned in the Song, threatening to take legal action against the artist if he fails to heed to her demands.

Waiguru demanded the artist to retract the song and tender his apology in writing saying the composition had tainted her image.

However, the move met czar criticism from Kenyans who slammed the Governor for going overboard over what they term as a minor issue.

Besides, legal professionals including Lawyers Nelson Havi, Ahmednasir Abdullahi and Martha Karua have all promised to represent King Kaka against anyone who will file a legal suit against him over the lyrics.
