Raila Odinga allies on Friday demanded an apology from the Tanga Tanga group allied to the Deputy President William Ruto on grounds that they are looking for an opportunity to paint Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) in a bad light.

The ODM legislators accused the group of planning to cause chaos in Mombasa at Mama Ngina drive where the meeting is slated to take place in attempts to paint the BBI as intolerant and non-inclusive.

Antony Olouch, Mathare MP during the press briefing

Caleb Amisi MP for Sabaot further castigating them in a press conference issued a warning to the group that should there happen to be chaos at the BBI meeting in Mombasa they will hold them accountable.

“Finally, let the DP and his people be on notice that we will hold them accountable for any chaos, losses or interruption made on this occasion tomorrow,” he said.

Antony Olouch among the ODM MPs present said that they were, however, ready for any eventuality that might take place and will tackle any challenge head-on.

He also insisted that BBI was not meant to perpetuate dynasties a motion the tanga tanga group had been allegedly trying to push.

“BBI is no longer meant to create positions for the president, for Uhuru Kenyatta and For Raila Odinga.”

Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen an ally to the DP shortly after confirming that he and the group would attend the third sensitization drive of the BBI claimed that he had been threatened.

“I have been threatened that if I attend the Mombasa BBI meeting I shall be humiliated by being denied a seat, not being allowed to talk or even if I am allowed to talk I shall be heckled.” His tweet read in part.

This might have sparked the reaction from the ODM legislators especially after the tanga tanga group said they would be present in the Mombasa meeting after tactfully missing out on two previous ones- Kakamega and Kisii.

Shortly after on Friday morning a large group of individuals stormed Tanga Tanga’s Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa’s press conference in Mombasa.

Jumwa was addressing the matter of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting to be held in the Coastal city on Friday, January 24.

The lawmaker had reiterated that there would be no showdown between Tanga Tanga leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto and their Kieleweke counterparts backing President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga at the event to be held on Tononoka Grounds.
