Anti-graft agency detectives on Monday evening raided Deputy President William Ruto’s home in Karen.
A team from the Director of Criminal Investigation also camped outside Ruto’s office but the Deputy President is currently in his Muthaiga home.
Senior staff at Deputy President’s office have fled fearing arrests.
“We are here for a major operation. We urge members of the public to remain calm as we conduct this operation,” said one of the EACC detectives.
In an earlier statement, Deputy President William Ruto told the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to go for the real culprits behind the fake Sh39 billion military equipment tender deal, which has seen former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa arrested and charged.
Ruto distanced himself from the saga, adding that the move to link his office to the ongoing investigations is a smear campaign by his political opponents.
He took to tweeter on Saturday to defend himself following media reports that his aides are on the DCI radar over the alleged negotiation of the fake military equipment deal at the Harambee House Annex.
